Brief Analysis of the Current Situation
This analysis does not intend to replace the understanding of the complex phenomena of today's world, but rather to contribute the freedom of conscience and the absence of ideological prejudice that we, militants of the International Humanist Party (IHP), seek to uphold.
Starting from an analysis defines a political point of view, just as a medical diagnosis seeks to identify the cause behind the symptoms. Existing institutions, such as public and private universities, as well as international cultural organizations, provide the symptoms but often fail to point out the causes of conflicts, as is currently the case in the Middle East.
At the International Level
1. Global capital exercises, through the international private financial system, a tyranny that is not abstract. It has names, representatives, executors, and clear procedures (for example, major investment funds, the IMF, and the World Bank). These structures form part of an increasingly concentrated speculative financial power that appropriates companies, land, and even entire cities. They control the means of production and influence people's subjectivity through the media, including social networks.
2. This international order is imposed by powerful minorities whose destructive center of power lies in the alliance of the leaderships of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel, dragging NATO countries in Europe along with them. On the other hand, the center of economic and technological predominance is shifting once again toward the East with the rise of China, which does not practice military imperialism but rather economic imperialism.
3. The United Nations has become a formal apparatus incapable of containing the advance of militarism and unilateral sanctions promoted by these powerful minorities. International law is being trampled by the actions of these leaderships. This confrontation places humanity on the brink of devastation through the use of nuclear weapons.
At the Level of the International Humanist Party
4. The International Humanist Party has maintained for decades that we stand before diverging paths and that the options are:
"Total chaos or nonviolent revolution."
"Capitalism cannot be ecological, inclusive, or humanized. Capitalism must be overcome through a profound Humanist Revolution."
(World Situation Analysis – August 2022 – ECI/IHP)
As has been said many times before, our era urgently requires, in the broadest sense of the word, the unity of all humanists around the world. The dangerous and disastrous current situation demands a triple revolution: political-social, cultural, and psychological.
At the Individual Level
5. At present, powerful minorities impose their will. Popular power is the only force capable of opposing the power of money and the political, legal, military, and media structures that sustain it. Millions of people rebel throughout the planet through different means and in different areas where oppression exists.
For now, there is no unified action bringing all these struggles together, but this is a clear direction toward overcoming the still-prevailing global capitalist system. Actions aimed at reforming the system are often confused with those seeking to revolutionize it and open the path to a new future in which the human being is the central value and concern.
6. Today, as yesterday, it is necessary for each person to ask themselves deeply whether they wish to continue living and under what conditions. If we want to change the conditions in which we live, we must join with others in the construction of a new society that overcomes capitalist barbarism.
The International Federation of Humanist Parties Proposes:
At the International Level
1. It is urgent to promote real democracy. The United Nations must be reformed (eliminating the veto power and permanent members of the Security Council), as well as the IMF and the World Bank (the United States, the European Union, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan hold 53% of the votes while representing only 13% of the world's population).
2. Military blocs such as NATO should be dissolved, as they contribute nothing to human progress.
3. International law, although imperfect, must be respected (international humanitarian law, human rights law, international trade law, UN treaties, the International Court of Justice, etc.). Today impunity prevails in the face of bombings of civilians, schools, and hospitals, genocides, and interference in the internal affairs of other states. Firm sanctions and condemnations must be applied to those responsible for these crimes.
At the Level of the International Humanist Party
4. The International Humanist Party proposes organizing an international campaign based on communication and coordinated action among humanist parties and all voluntary organizations, aimed at immediate demilitarization and, in particular, the dismantling of nuclear weapons.
It is urgent to redirect military budgets toward health, education, and ecological transition—the only valid “weapons” for building the future.
"If health and education are distributed unequally among the inhabitants of a country, revolution implies free health care and education for all, since these are the two most important values that should replace the paradigms of today's society: wealth and power. If everything is considered in terms of health and education, the complex economic and technological problems of contemporary society can be addressed appropriately. If the opposite occurs, it will not be possible to build a society capable of evolving."
Silo – Letters to My Friends (1993)
At the Individual Level
5. On a personal level, together with others, we propose radical kindness as an attitude capable of guaranteeing the future of humanity. Today hatred and fear are used as tools and dehumanizing algorithms to generate economic and political gains. It is up to each individual to take a stand. Kindness is a firm political stance to sabotage fear, hatred, and violence.
"In a short time, the truly valuable resources of the planet will no longer be natural, energy, or technological resources, nor even intangible resources such as information and knowledge. In the very near future, the most valuable asset for ensuring the survival and progress of human civilization toward a new evolutionary stage will be kindness."
H. Novotny (2007) – “Intentionality in Human and Universal Evolution”
6. We also encourage overcoming the noise produced by the media and social networks at the service of capitalism, which lead us to believe in manipulated knowledge and distance us from the truth. Doubting, verifying, comparing, and studying are today indispensable acts of resistance.
DISARM VIOLENCE WITHIN YOURSELF AND LET US DISARM THE SYSTEM.
It is a project, a struggle, and a future for our lives in which everyone is necessary!
Enough of capitalism and wars!
Enough of conflicts between empires that crush citizens in the name of power and money!
